At first glance, 2007 seemed to have been a very busy year for WaT, Japan's most adorable male singer-songwriter pop duo. "월급은 마약?!" - 월급쟁이들의 세상을 노래하다.
현직 평법한 한 직장인이 월급쟁이로서의 일상을 소재로 직접 작사, 작곡, 노래한 앨범이 국내 처음으로 발표됐다.

'Break the Rule'이라는 타이틀로 에스엠에서 출사한 이 앨범에는 '아이 러브 스쿨'을 타이틀곡으로 '월급쟁이'. '평범하게 산다는 것이 얼마나 어려운 일인지 넌 이제 깨달아야 해', 태엽', '아내에게 바치는 노래', '사람과 사람사이' 등 월급쟁이들의 삶의 현장이 투영된 10곡의 노래가 고스란히 담겨져 있다. 이번 앨범의 주인공인 최상률은 일간신문, 케이블TV등 매스미디어 업계를 거쳐 현재는 국내 최대의 통신회사 KT에 근무하고 있는 직장인으로 그가 직장생활 동안 경험하고 느낀 30대 월급쟁이들의 애환을 담은 노래를 15년간 직접작사, 작곡, 노래해 이번 앨범에 모두 수록하였다. 그는 남편이 아내에게 결혼기념일 들려줄 수 있는 노래, 회사 회식때 고래고래 지를 수 있는 노래, 오랜만에 만난 친구들과 부를 수 있는 그런 노래를 만들어 발표하고 싶었다고 한다.

유희열과 함께 토이를 만들었던 창단멤버 윤정오가 편곡과 앨범 디렉팅을 맡았고 함준호(기타), 김정렬(베이스), 박영준(건반, The Classic 멤버), 신석철(드럼, 신중현의 셋째아들) 등 기라성 같은 연주자들이 전격적으로 음반제작에 참여하여 만만치 않은 앨범임을 가늠케 한다. 최상률은 이번 앨범 발표하기까지 10년간을 '베짱이들'이라는 직장인 그룹사운드의 리드싱어로 활동해오면서 직장인들, 맞벌이 부부들을 소래로 한 노래를 불러 왔다. 그는 온 몸으로 부딪쳐 살아 온 복잡한 사회에서 스스로를 지탱해 준 이야기를 노래로 담은 이번 앨범이 'Break the Rule'이라는 타이틀처럼 이 시대 직장인들의 기존의 편견과 루틴한 삶의 틀을 깨고 자신 만의 끼를 찾고 마음을 열어 공감하는 조그만 노래터가 되기를 기대하고 있다.

Haha, whose real name is Ha Dong-hoon, opened his first album he released seven years ago to the public after gaining popularity through an MBC entertainment program ‘Unlimited Challenge.’

The album was made by a threesome hip-hop group ‘Jikiri’, in which Haha belonged to, and the sale of the album was prohibited in 2001, soon after its release, due to its indecency.

Open World, which is the company that has all the proprietary rights of Jikiri’s album, said, “We made public the first album of Jikiri, in which Haha took part in, since July through music downloading sites.” They also added, “Haha talked about his first album he tried to put on sale when he made his debut in various show programs, which made his fans curious about Jikiri and their songs, and this is why we decided to make Jikiri’s album public.”

The first album of Jikiri, constituted of Haha, Jilly, and Wow, has 16 songs in it and the lyrics of four of these songs, ‘Bubble Bubble’ ‘I Was Joking’ ‘May It All Be’ and ‘Seven Crime’ were made by Haha. source: SportsWorld
